FAQ Weekly Football Operations Update
My son isn’t the best communicator about things I need to know about the games, tickets, etc… How am I going to get my questions answered? You will receive an e-mail from Michigan Football Operations with important, current information as soon as it’s available. You should also spend some time on the MFPFA website; there is a lot of information there. If your question is not of a personal nature, send the MFPFA and e-mail at [email protected] and we will check with Football Operations, get back to you, then post the question on the website under FAQ so other parents can benefit from the information.
I haven’t received any e-mails from Michigan Football, but other player parents have… what’s wrong? Check your Spam folder; sometimes the Michigan Football Operations group e-mails end up there. OR We may not have your correct contact information. If your contact information changes, please let us know by calling (734) 763-4443 or emailing [email protected].
Who is the parent contact at Michigan Football Operations?
Kelly King: (518) 791-8799 [email protected] (until she goes on maternity leave in October).
Michelle Guidry-Pan (734) 647-4310 [email protected]
Please note that the majority of parent questions can be answered by viewing the different tabs on the website, including the FAQ!
Why does more than one player have the same jersey number on the roster? Every jersey number could be potentially worn by up to three players, depending on the position played: Offense, Defense, Special Teams. (example: #3 Quarterback, #3 Defensive Tackle, #3 Kicker)
My son is a freshman on the team. Will he always keep the same jersey number every year he plays? Possibly, but not guaranteed. All of the players on this team have played sports for several years and have favorite jersey numbers; in addition, several positions have a range of numbers that are typically used. After the season is over, there will be jersey numbers available for the next season due to many factors including graduation and transfer. When the coaching staff releases the roster for the following season, wolverine fans will notice changes in some player numbers.

FAQ Upcoming Events and 2019 Football Schedule
Why don’t parents get a schedule of the player family events for the whole season in the summer, so they can plan ahead? This is probably one of the biggest adjustments from High School football to being a parent of a player on an elite Division 1 football program. The top priority of the coaching staff is the players on the team and the football program. The social events are planned after decisions regarding the team are made, and with the coordination of the University of Michigan. Because NCAA compliance is critical, all events are evaluated from that perspective as well. Parents will receive e-mail information regarding family events as soon as possible, within hours of the coaching staff and University decisions are made. As soon as that information is available, it will be posted on the MFPFA website.
Do parents travelling to AWAY games typically book hotel rooms where the team is staying? Michigan Football Operations inform parents of the hotel where the team is staying; this information is posted on the MFPFA website under each game (when provided). Please keep this information confidential. Some parents will choose to stay in the same hotel; other parents will find accommodations elsewhere.
Will I get to see my son after an Away Game? This will depend on the stadium, the security, and what Coach Harbaugh decides based on the safety of the players and families following the game. Do not count on seeing your son, but if it is possible, it might happen at the away stadium. The team always flies home to Ann Arbor directly from the stadium after the game and does not go back to a hotel.
Do parents ever get together either before the game (i.e. Friday evening before a Saturday game) or after the game if people are staying in hotels? This varies game to game. Michigan Football Operations will probably not sponsor anything official for season games, but might have a parent/player event prior to a Bowl Game. If an event is scheduled, you will receive that information in an e-mail prior to the game. The MFPFA is hoping to develop relationships and communication between parents who travel in order to facilitate social events at Away season games. Join the MFPFA Facebook group, since many parents will communicate with each other on that site.

FAQ Player Tickets
My son receives 4 tickets for each home game, but he’s too busy to input the names for his 4 tickets on JumpForward. Can a parent be given a separate password for JumpForward and do this for him? No. All ticket reservations for a player MUST be completed using the player password; parents cannot receive their own password. A player may give his parent his JumpForward password, at his discretion, for a parent to assist in this process. Please remember that the deadline for designating tickets is WEDNESDAY 11:59 p.m.!
What information is needed for a player to reserve a ticket for someone? (Instructions on Jump Forward) The relationship of the guest to the player, First name (no nick names), Last name, Mobile Phone and whether or not special accommodations/seating are required. A registered guest will remain on the player guest list for the entirety of his athletic career at Michigan. Once a guest is created, the player can add them to specific events (games).
Will a person using a player ticket be required to show I.D. when picking up the ticket? Yes. The name on the ticket at Player Ticket Will Call must match the name on the person’s I.D. If the guest is a minor child, the parent’s I.D. will be used for the child’s ticket.
If we are bringing a young child who will sit on a parent lap, does that child need a ticket too? Yes. Every person, regardless of age, requires a ticket to enter the stadium, even infants.
If a player has not completed the Jump Forward request for tickets by WEDNESDAY 11:59 p.m. prior to the Saturday game, can he still request player tickets? No. Once the deadline set by the Ticket office is closed, the ticket window will close on Jump Forward and the player will no longer be able to assign tickets.
Can a player designate tickets for games later in the season? Yes. If the window on Jump Forward is Open to Assign Tickets, the player can complete the request, even if the game is several weeks ahead. (this applies to HOME games only). Away games will not be available for ticket requests until the week of the game.
If my son requests tickets weeks ahead on Jump Forward, is it possible to have the tickets mailed to us in advance? No. Player tickets are only available to be picked-up on game day and cannot be mailed prior to that, regardless of reservation date.
Does a player get the same seats assigned for every game? No. The player tickets are in premium seating on the Press Box side of the stadium behind the Michigan bench. However, since several hundred seats are assigned each game, player tickets are in the same general area, but not the exact same seats.
If we know people who are sitting in other seats in the stadium, can they come over to the player seat area and join us in our section during the game? No. Although Michigan Stadium is the largest college football stadium in the country, each and every seat has a ticket designated for that section/row/number. Wolverine fans are very protective of their seats, and anyone coming into the stadium should be ready to show their ticket at any time to verify their seat. Parents can meet friends outside the stadium (at concession stands, etc..) but cannot invite them to come sit in the player ticket area inside the stadium during the game.
We need more tickets for a specific game. Can a player obtain additional tickets? Yes, but not from Michigan Football Operations. Players can transfer some or all of their comp tickets to teammates on Jump Forward, by checking “transfer ticket” then designating the teammate to transfer tickets to. Keep in mind that once a ticket(s) is transferred between players, the only way to get the ticket(s) back is to have the teammate who received the ticket(s), transfer the ticket(s) back.
How many players travel to Away games? Approximately 70 players will travel to each BIG 10 Conference Away game. Players who earn the Travel squad will be allotted 4 tickets to the game, with the same rules regarding ticket designation on JumpForward as home games.
How will parents know if their son made the official travel party for a particular game? The travel squad is determined by Coach Harbaugh “meritocracy” and often the final list isn’t available until just hours before the team leaves. Other issues which influence whether or not a player travels include: injury, illness, academic qualifications, team infractions, etc… The coaching staff notifies the player; the player notifies his family.
What do parents do if they want to attend an AWAY game, but aren’t sure if their son will make the official travel party? If a player does not make the Travel squad, there will NOT be four free tickets for use at the game. The parents need to decide if they want to make travel arrangements that can be rescheduled if player tickets aren’t available, or travel and purchase tickets through another venue. Parents can communicate with each other through Ticket Hub on the MFPFA website or on the MFPFA Facebook group for their particular situation if needed.
Someone in our group cannot easily walk down stairs. What do we do? When entering Michigan Stadium, you are at Row 72 so if you or your family members are unable to take the stairs down to lower level seats, Michigan Football Operations can arrange to have your seats placed near the portal where you walk into the Stadium bleacher area (approximately Row 72). Deadline for this request: Wednesday night! Each week that you need this kind of seating, you must fill out this form: Player Family Handicapped/Portal Seating Requests
Someone in our group needs assistance walking through the stadium crowds; what do we do? The ticket office will do their best to transport by golf cart based on availability (for both home and away games). When you pick up your tickets, you may also ask the Stadium Staff for assistance from Will Call to your section area by golf cart. Please allow for one hour prior to kickoff to receive this assistance, as the concourse becomes very busy.
Someone in our group is in a wheel chair. Are there accommodations in the stadium? Yes.For wheelchair seating (different from portal seating), your son can note this when he adds his names on the ticket website. When he enters a name he must add “/Handicapped” or “/Companion” to their names. For example, a player would list his guests as “John Smith/Handicapped” and “Mary Smith/Companion” to indicate the need for wheelchair seating with a companion (folding chair provided). We recommend adding this to names in JumpForward AND using the portal/handicapped seating link.

FAQ Need tickets? (Ticket Hub)
My son doesn’t know anyone on the team who has “extra” tickets. Is there any way to contact other team parents to see if they have tickets available? On the MFPFA.weebly.com website under “Ticket Hub” there is the opportunity for parents to post requests for tickets or post your request on the MFPFA Facebook group page. This allows other parents to see the request and contact each other; however, the MFPFA cannot be responsible for facilitating ticket requests. Often players will “trade” tickets for different games during the season.

However, since this is an exceptional situation, plan for additional time in picking up your tickets. FAQ Player Post-Game Pick Up
How long does it take for my son to meet me at Crisler following the game? That varies depending on the game. Generally speaking, the team meets after the game, and players will come into Crisler after they shower. This takes at least 20 minutes from the end of the game. Since 110,000 fans are also leaving the stadium, it’s actually better that the players won’t be ready to leave Crisler until many of the fans have vacated the stadium area.
Who can come inside Crisler to meet a player? Player guests who have a wristband that you were given at ticket pick-up or at pre-game at Field 4. All players enter through one door coming up from the lower level of Crisler, so you will not miss seeing your son; however, the hallway in Crisler becomes extremely crowded, so some parents meet their sons directly outside the Crisler entrance instead. The meet-up area closes 45 minutes after the game ends. Please do not sit in the Crisler seats while you are waiting for your son.
What if my son wants to avoid crowds walking back to Glick because of fans waiting for the team to exit Crisler? You and your son could walk around the inside of Crisler and go out another entrance. Please do NOT linger in Crisler and do not sit in any of the arena seats. Please note that interested fans will wait outside most Crisler entrances, so privacy is not guaranteed for any player walking back to Glick.

FAQ Parent Prayer
Is there an opportunity for families to pray together for the players before the game? Yes. For families who want to participate, there will be a brief prayer gathering inside Glick right after the boys leave on the buses headed to the stadium.
Who will lead the family prayer? There is a pastor who volunteers with the team, and the MFPFA also invites anyone who is present at Glick the opportunity to lead the prayer. Anyone present is also invited to include personal intentions. Since parents usually leave for the stadium after the buses have left, we want the prayer time to be meaningful, yet respectful of parents wanting to leave for the stadium.
